Another Hopeful Sunday ~

James and Humphrey are hopeful....they are hopeful on each and every Sunday. You see, James and Humphrey were abandoned by their family just when they were wee infants. Such a terrible tragedy. Since then, the twins have been fostered by their local church. Every Sunday, after services, James and Humphrey run to the front bench to greet and charm the congregation as they leave for home...hoping against all odds that maybe, just maybe, one kind hearted family might take them in and raise them as their own. But alas ~ for all these many years, the families pass by the twins with nary a word. But...on this particular Sunday, something fantastical and unexpected is about to happen....

James and Humphrey can be found HERE.

Thank you so much for having a look at my newest piece. I truly appreciate it!

Please, Pardon My Absence ~

Oh please....pretty please, pardon my absence. I have been looking forward to this fun and whimsical tea party for ever so long. But alas ~ I have an unexpected schedule clash. You see, I have an art piece going into a museum show...yes, great news. But...I didn't know that the drop off day would be the same day as the Tea Party.

I know you will have a fabulous day filled with treats and stories and all sorts of interesting goodness!! I'll be back this evening to read all about it.

Have fun ~

Decisions...decisions....

Whirlwind!!! This one simple word has become a constant in my life. My current situation fits snuggly into this category ~

In the next 12 hours, I have to make a decision. For me, that is a huge, scary beast!! So....I have come here to ask for your help. I ask you because I trust your judgement. I trust you.

I need to choose one watercolor / collage to be in a small format art show in Riverside, California. One and only one. I have narrowed it down to two. At this point, I am asking for your opinion.

Between now and this Saturday, I have to make a choice, have the piece matted and framed and delivered. HELP !!!!

Here is choice number one: "The Changeling Moon" ~

Choice number two: "The Uninvited" ~

As you can probably tell, I am a bit overwhelmed, but I am also very thankful for the opportunity to show my work. Your heartfelt opinion will be ever so appreciated. All you need to do is leave a quick comment with your choice.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart:

Resting in Peace...

Wilma June Karr 09-04-1927 ~ 06-22-2009

Some glad morning when this life is o'er,
I'll fly away;
To a home on God's celestial shore,
I'll fly away.

I'll fly away, Oh Glory
I'll fly away;
When I die, Hallelujah, by and by,
I'll fly away.

When the shadows of this life have gone,
I'll fly away;
Like a bird from prison bars has flown,
I'll fly away.

I'll fly away, Oh Glory
I'll fly away;
When I die, Hallelujah, by and by,
I'll fly away.

Just a few more weary days and then,
I'll fly away;
To a land where joy shall never end,
I'll fly away.

I'll fly away, Oh Glory
I'll fly away;
When I die, Hallelujah, by and by,
I'll fly away.
(Written by Albert E. Brumley)

We all miss you, but we know you're free and no longer in pain. Thank you for passing on your grit and strength to me and the kids. We love you mom.

Celebrations and Chitalpa Snow ~

A week of memories and celebrations. Reminders of days gone by. Heartwarming and melancholy all at once. June 13th marked the 23rd year of my marriage ~

As always, Gary gave me two dozen red roses the day before our Anniversary ~

So sweet and red and delicious ~

We celebrated and indulged for days ~ finally making the decision to open our cherished blue bottle of White Cabernet Sauvignon ~

June 17th marked the 22nd birthday of my first born. The first of our 3 blessings ~

Again, we celebrated and ate cake and gave gifts of the most curious kind ~

So much fun, so much goodness, but my heart is a little blue. I feel a small glitch in my throat when I realize that the years have swiftly moved onward. Wondering where the next path might lead ~

But alas ~ we go forward ~

Reaching onward and upward is nature. Even a simple orange Nasturtium reaches for light and life ~

This time of year is full of celebrations for us, and those celebrations always go hand in hand with the blooming of the Chitalpa trees ~

I associate my celebrations with these trees...givers of the Orchidy blossoms ~

and Chitalpa snow ~

Even Junior is breezy and frisky on these Chitalpa days ~

These 4 lacy trees stand just outside my studio window. Inspring me to use pink ~

They quickly call me away from my desk. Luring me to take a stroll. To see, to look, to smell. To find hidden treasures that entertain and warm me ~

To dance through it all....to breathe.

The Changeling Moon ~

Well hello....

I hope this beautiful day finds you doing something especially sunny and delicious.

I have been on an unexpected creative roll this week. Normally, I can't find the heart and don't have the time to get lost in my work for hours on end. But this week, I fell into an accidental creative stupor.

Would you like to see my newest piece?

Okay...here it is~

The Changeling Moon...

"But the doors were all locked and the windows secured! The Changelings only stood, saying nothing, giving no clues. Ohhh...where are the children, the little ones that truly live in the now silent and sad white house? What really happened on this day of the Changeling Moon?"

If you would like to learn more about this watercolor/collage, please click HERE.

And a big giant ooey gooey thank you to all of you fabulous blog readers! I have received so many personal emails regarding my new pieces and I just want to say "thank you". The notes and letters mean ever so much to me. I cherish you all!!

Can a Gal Change Her Mind Twice In One Week?

Hello There:

Surprise!! (or not!), I've decided to list another original watercolor / collage that I had intended on keeping. I must stop holding onto all these originals. I create them because they make me happy, but I also create them to make other people happy as well. So, I have just listed "Delilah's New Day" ~

If you would like to learn more about this piece, you can read all the details at Gerushia's Big Cartel store.

I triple dog promise that I'll be back soon with a fun, non-marketing blog post!!

Have a fabulously sunny day:

A Gal Can Change Her Mind, Yes?

Hello There:

Just a quick pop in, first of all, to say "thank you" to all my blog / artist pals for sending such kind emails regarding my newest piece ~ "The Temporary Hat" ~

Ooopsie...the original "The Temporary Hat" has been sold.

Secondly, after a bit of consideration and several inquiring notes regarding the original "The Temporary Hat", I have decided to list it in Gerushia's Big Cartel Shop. I had originally thought I would keep the original, although I don't really know why. I tend to hoard my originals ~ silly, isn't it?

If you'd like to have a look at the details...please click HERE.

As always, I am so humbled and grateful to all the folks that take the time to stop in here and read my silly blog. It is heartfully appreciated.

A New Piece For Gerushia's New Shop.

Hello ~

So nice to see you today. I truly hope you are having a lovely, sunny day. From what I can see out my picture window, it appears to be a delicious day outdoors ~ but alas~ I haven't once tippy-toed outside yet today, as I have been at the computer, adding the finishing touches to Gerushia's new Big Cartel Shop. I believe it's finally ready to go. Would you like to have a peek? Oh....Please do! Will you click HERE? Gerushia and I would both adore it if you would have a look and leave us a comment.

Included in Gerushia's new Big Cartel shop will be a brand new print, just finished last night entitled: "The Temporary Hat" ~

(Will you have a look at Mr. Hackendasham's new hat? It's temporary, really! Of course, Mr. Hackendasham already has a fabulous hat of his own, but every now and again, we all need to wear an orange party hat, yes?).

This new watercolor / collage print will only be listed in the Big Cartel shop, and will not be included in Gerushia's Etsy inventory. I haven't listed the original yet, as I am not sure that I will let it go. I rather like it.

Oh...wouldn't it be good fun to step inside the world of "The Temporary Hat"? I just know Mr. Hackendasham and all of his New World pals would make the most fabulous friends. When I finish a piece, the first thought that comes to my mind is ~ I wonder what the world inside the canvas would smell like? To me, the world of The Temporary Hat smells of peaches and damp leaves.

Oh so busy...

Hello There:

It's been so long since I've had a chance to have a proper visit with you ~ and, even today won't be a truly proper visit. I have so much to share with you, but alas, I am short on time today.

Over the course of the last couple of weeks, I've visited an art exhibit ~

Went on a "date" to Disneyland with my husband (no kids allowed!!) ~

Finished and delivered a very special custom birthday collage ~

Took care of (and am still taking care of) my very sweet, old, and sick Labrador Retriever, Homer ~

and..and..and..well, you get the idea, yes?

Add into this busy mix a new storefront on my Facebook Fanpage and the beginnings of a new shop on Big Cartel...you have a recipe for a very busy girl!

Sooo, for today, I am just asking that, if you have a Facebook account and would like to become a "fan" of Gerushia's, please have a click on the Facebook badge right over to the right hand in the blog sidebar. This will take you to Gerushia's fanpage. Once there, you can click on the new "Shop Now" tab and voilĂ ...you can shop without having an Etsy account. All you need is a Paypal account.

I will make another annoucement when my Big Cartel Shop opens for business. I believe this will be my main shop.

I promise to visit again very soon with a more interesting and colorful post.

In the meantime, let me also send a "Get Well" to my Great Dane pal, Delilah ~

Delilah just recently posed for my newest piece ~

Poor baby was hit by a car yesterday and is feeling a bit down. She's going to be okay, but she's sore and fairly beat up. So....hey Delilah ~ Get well quickly and hope to see you soon!!
