Let's Have a Give-Away, Shall We?

Well, I think it's time for a give-away.

I haven't had one in quite a long while.  Mostly because people are still having trouble leaving comments on my blog.  But, I'm in the mood to give.

So....

Here's the thing.

I'm giving away a 4 print set called ~

"The Weeping Woman Series"

These are some of my favorite non-anthropomorphic pieces.  Yep...not a single animal head was used in the making of this set!

However, I did use my daughter.  She is the "Weeping Woman."

She is a fantastic model and is always game to participate in my silly art whims!

Here are the titles of each print:

"The Haunting of La Llorona"

"The Burning of Eulalia"

"Lida's Swan Song"

"Plentyn Newid ~ A Welsh Changeling Story"
This piece was created for and published in a book called
"A Welsh Alphabet"

All you need to do is leave a comment.  Or at least try.  If you have trouble leaving a comment, please email me at GerushiasWorld at aol dot com.  I'll add your name to the comment section.

The give-away will run through Sunday, March 3rd at 7:00 pm Pacific time.

The winner will be chosen by a handy dandy randomizer and announced Monday morning March 4th!

Until Sunday:

Everything Old Is New Again and "Serafine's Mountain"

Art.
Marketing.
Selling.

Craziness!!

Art is the easy part.

Marketing and selling are the difficult parts.
The time consuming part.
The thing that takes me away from my studio and forces me to sit for hours at the computer.

I am so very grateful for the online opportunities that allow my art to reach people all over the world.
But, the venue choices are overwhelming.
Finding a good fit for my work has been a relentless struggle.

I've traveled around, I admit it.

I started selling my art on eBay.
Then....I moved to Etsy.

Big Cartel.
Storenvy.
Zibbet.

Now, back to Etsy.

Everything old is new again, yes?

(But, I am keeping my Zibbet shop open too.  The people there are so nice and the site is very friendly and easy.  Just haven't been able to direct many buyers to Zibbet).

If you'd like to see my new Etsy shop, just click Right Here.

I just listed my first ever Etsy Daily Special.
$10.00 Art Print Entitled:

I've also listed originals,  prints, and my series that includes short stories called Tiny Tale Art.

So....here I go again.  Looking for a comfortable fit.
Somewhere to list my art that feels right

Hopefully, Etsy will be a better fit and I can finally unpack and call it home.

So, today was busy with shop work.  Computer work.  Tapping fingers while sneaking dreamy glances out the window, wishing I were in the studio.

Along with my new shop announcement, I also have another new original to share with you.
This piece has been in my heart and bones for a long time.

You see, Gerushia's New World is more than a shop name.  It's actually the name of an entire fairy tale that I have been writing for years.

All of the characters that I create and introduce to canvas are characters from my fairy tale.

Each art piece has a short story written to go along with it.  But...there is an epic tale that gathers all of my characters into Gerushia's World.

Most of my characters are curious and harmless
Odd and kind.

But ~

in Gerushia's World, just like in every fairy tale world, there exists an evil power.
Serafine is the evilness that threatens Gerushia's New World and the characters within.

She is the collector of sin.
A deceitful and fiery power.

For the first time ever, I have created a visual of this evil side of the world.

Entitled:

Serafine is not kind or curious.
She is fire.
Evil.

But the inhabitants of Gerushia's World are so strong.

Bright.

Warriors for the better side.

Every world has a version of Serafine.

Not just fairy tale worlds.

Feb-write-ary, Springtime Dreams and Art ~

Do you like quiet and turtle-paced days?

I adore them.

I love days at home, reading, dreaming of warm spring days and long hours in the studio cutting, painting and writing short stories to go along with my art.

As some of you already know, I often write short stories that correspond with my collage pieces.  With the slower days at Winter's end upon me, I find myself drifting, concentrating less on my writing and more on my garden planning.

So....to keep me in line, I've decided to sign up for Feb-write-ary.

Feb-write-ary is a write-a-thon hosted by The Crumbling Spine (my daughter).

With my word count goal at only 5,000 words, I think this will be a great way for me to write the 4 or 5  short stories that I need to write and 5,000 words is a realistic count! :-)

While preparing for Feb-write-ary, I've kept busy with other goodnesses too.

Baking.
Valentine's Day cupcakes ~

Playing with my puppies.
Artist in Residence ~

Trying new things.
Cappuccino Stout (who knew it would be so delicious?) ~

Stopping to ponder and appreciate the things that I hold dear.
This Three Little Pigs flowerpot was given to me by a long-gone friend.
I am over the moon in love with this vintage piece ~

There is always time to listen to music...
the notes and chords that blend and mix my life with my art ~

Creating foxy paper dolls that will soon be adhered to my collage world.
Meet Mr. Jubal Stepp ~

Do you dream of flowers?

I do.

I dream of purple lovelies on a rustic fence ~

The spicy and exotic scent of Plum blossoms ~

Confetti pinks and blues make me hopeful.

Future Nectarines and ethereal skies ~

...and, I count the days until the annual Sweet Pea patch gifts me with countless bouquets ~

I cherish my time in the studio.

My work?  My play?
Who can tell the difference anyway?

Works in Progress ~

These two pieces have been listed in my Online Shop ~

This piece can now be purchased in a Print Version AND, it's also the $10.00 Daily Special

So...as you can tell by this blog post (probably by all my blog posts), my mind tends to scatter.
Meandering and jumping from one idea to another.
One dream to another.

Knowing that I truly need to get my short stories written, Fe-write-ary is just the thing I need.

Once the write-a-thon is over, I'll share the stories along with their corresponding art right here on my blog.

A Quick Little Post And A One Day Sale ~ (Ooopsie...Sale Over)

Just a quick pop-in today.

On the spur of the moment, I've decided to have a quick little one day sale.

330% off all my original watercolor/collages ~

There are 12 originals included in this sale.  Even my new, new, newest pieces ~

and...

There are older pieces as well.

For example:

and...

I need to clear out some inventory.  Plus, I like to give people the opportunity to own original, one of a kind art for affordable prices.  In this economy, collecting art is not on the top of the "important things to buy list."  So...for those of you who might be interested and have a bit of extra cash, now is a great time to purchase an original from my shop.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email me or leave a comment.  I'm always open to offers and ideas.

The Visitation of Eugenie's Muse And a New Shop ~

I've been so busy lately.

So, so busy.

Some good stuff.

Some bad stuff.

The good stuff comes from my studio.

I finished a piece that has a lot of personal meaning to me.

This piece is chock full of images that were inspired by the Great Depression, the Ozarks and hard times.  Death and hope as well.

It isn't as bright and colorful and curious as my usual art.

Eugenie is still in my shop.  If you're interested in purchasing her, just click Right Here.

I've also been playing with salted watercolor again ~

This is "Lollianna" ~

She's a character from one the children's stories that I wrote called:

"Lollianna and George Roy's Spectacular Balloon Animal Party."

I am hoping to paint George Roy as well.

My watercolors are simply quick studies.  They're not perfect.  They're "prototypes" for the characters in my books.  Doing theses quick paintings helps me to identify the characters physically.

If you're interested in purchasing "Lollianna" you can find her in My Shop.

She's very affordable and she's one of a kind.

I've also been busy building a second online shop.  A place where I can sell some of the vintage photos I have.

Here's my new shop ~

Most of the photos I'm selling are pieces that I can't use in my art or pieces I've already used.  I don't actually cut into the original photo...I just scan them and hand-tint the scans.  However, there are a few photos that are dear to me that I have listed ~

The Hingtgen Sisters has some history.  The three girls were daughters of the photographer Theo Hingtgen.  Their names were Anna, Mary and Bertha.  Mary is the little girl in the middle and she was deaf and couldn't speak.  The photo was taken in 1890 and is in excellent condition.

So...as you can see, I've been busy in the studio and busy building a new shop.

I hope you are all well and staying warm and safe.  I hear tell there's a lot of snow out there!

"The Crumbling Spine" ~ My Daughter's Book Blog.

Have I told about my daughter?

No?
(This is my daughter with Laini Taylor, author of "Daughter of Smoke and Bone.")

Well, I try not to talk too much about my kids online, because honestly, they prefer that I don't.

This...this is something that I want to share.

This is my daughter's new book blog ~

It is newborn and she is still working on the layout and design, but she's already started posting reviews and amazing interviews.

Do any of you enjoy reading "YA" fiction?  There are many adults that enjoy reading Young Adult books.  I like them myself.  They are often grittier than adult fiction and they can speak to me as the 18 year old girl I used to be ~

I am amazed by her writing style.  Her reviews are clean and to the point without being too long.

Because of our location, she is able to make contact with a lot of authors.  She has met many of the top YA authors and sees them often.  Even to the point that they recognize her  and know her.  Because of this...they grant her interviews!!

I can't believe it.  My daughter is interviewing authors!

Brodi Ashton

Jodi Meadows

Marissa Meyer

And for those of you who may have read "Shatter Me" and the newly released "Unravel Me" by Tahereh Mafi ~

you might be interested in this interview ~

Kenji Kishimoto

Yep,  she even scored an interview with Kenji Kishimoto (Tahereh)!

She has an inbox full of more interviews and many more books to review.

In all of her busy-ness and blogging and interviewing and attending author events, she's also writing several books herself.

Let me say this...and I say it not as her mom but as a rabid reader myself ~ I will buy her books when they are published.
I know the plots and I know the characters and I know her writing style.

No doubt in my mind...her books will be published.  :-)

So....if you like YA Fiction, please check out her blog.

xoxo
