Changes...

Hello There:

I'm tired.  Not in a bad way...but sort of in that stormy way when you're trying to make sense out of life's "stuff"  ~

Just as the seasons change ~

Winter ~

Spring ~

Summer ~

Fall ~

So life changes as well.

Life is spectacular!  Full of mystery and color and good smells.  But sometimes, the curve balls can get the best of you.

With some unexpected changes at hand in my life, I have found the need to have a super-duper sale in my shop.  I need to move inventory and clear it out.  Please click HERE if you'd like to have a look!

This is crazy, but necessary.  I've cut every single item in my shop by 50%.  This includes my higher priced items ~

All the way down to the itty-bittiest ACEOs ~

As time moves...this too shall pass.  I am so fortunate and blessed to have my art and even more blessed to be able to share it with people that see something inside of it.

If you are looking forward to gifting your friends and family with art, this is a great time to purchase.  50% off is something that I don't normally do.

Give and Take
Ups and Downs
Light and Dark

Life continues.....

If you find it in your heart to share this sale on your blogs, twitter, facebook, etc.  I would be so grateful for those shares!

Until Next Time:

"The Guardian of Cordelia's Swan Song" ~

Cordelia loved to dance.  Her days were filled with steps and turns and her nights were filled with dancing dreams.  She was so happy, simply happy, while she danced ~

But she knew, deep down inside, she knew that her days were numbered and her dance would end.  An ending that should never have been, yet it was a perfect Swan Song.

....and now ~ she rests.  ♥♥

The End.

You can find the original Dancing Cordelia in my shop.  Just click right here.  And of course, prints will follow soon!

The Sadness of Endings ~

Hello There:

I've been sitting in this chair, staring at this screen for almost an hour now, hoping to share a light-hearted and fun blog post.  But alas ~ sadness and mediocrity is all I can conjure on this 105 degree Autumn day.

Although I adore the Fall and all things that pop with orange and yellow confetti colors, there is always a sadness at the change of this particular season.  The change from Summer to Autumn  leaves a darkness in my bones and an emptiness in my heart.  I suppose a great amount of this sadness comes from the shorter days and the knowledge that Winter is just around the corner.

A portion of my downheartedness comes, not only from the season's ending, but from another ending.  The ending of life.  A particular life.  I brought my little guy home this weekend ~

I'm still in dis-belief that he's gone and how it all happened so fast.  Within 24 hours he was here and then gone.  Another ending.  A constant part of life.  Endings....

Just as endings are inevitable, so are new beginnings ~

With the Autumn upon us, it's time for baby-making.  These Praying Mantids are creating new life, new beginnings.

Only 2 days after these photos were snapped, the female Mantis began creating her egg case. The case will protect over 200 babies through the Winter months.  Come Spring, if all goes well, I will welcome those babies into my garden....and the chain will continue ~

The sadness of endings.  The hope of new beginnings.  Life is full of punches in the gut.  I wake up every morning and consciously look for goodness, otherwise, I will fall deeply deeply deeply into hopelessness.

I am looking forward to putting this guy on my front porch again ~

He makes me laugh and I do love the Halloween season.

This makes me laugh as well ~ I love a good "before and after" photo.  Lovely, yes? ~

Keeping your sense of humor, even through the dark times, is so so so important.  I think it is essential!

Keeping busy helps too.  I've been busy setting up new prints for my shop.  This print has been a long time in the plans and it's finally ready ~

Also newly offered in my shop is this print set.  I love offering prints together as sets because they look so good hanging side by side...AND, when purchased as a set, you save a few dollars as well.  This particular print set includes my two newest rabbity pieces ~

"The Guardian of Minervia's Secrets"

and

"A Serenade for Ola Jean"

You can find the print set listed in my shop....just click right here ~

I've managed to stay busy through the sadness of loss ~ through the sadness of endings.  Always always keeping my eyes open for little pieces of Heaven.  Trying to keep my sense of humor through it all and continuing to look forward.

Back To Work And A New Print Series ~

Good Morning:

Slowly slowly I am finding my way back to work.  I have been shuffling through some images and playing around with my favorite 1920s Ballerina photo.  She is calling to be used in a new piece ~

Much of my time has been spent on a copy-editing job for a middle grade trilogy.  But, that's a different story!

Anyway, I've been working on getting a 4 print set together which focuses on my "Weeping Woman" series.  I am happy to say that this new set is in my shop right this very moment!

You see, I have been fascinated by the weeping woman myths and legends all of my life.  Growing up in a Hispanic region, I found my way to the legend of La Llorona at an early age.  I have been in love with her since I was a little girl.

Of course, this love of mine naturally led me to create art pieces that included images of the weeping woman ~

This 4 print set includes:

I admit, I'm partial to these pieces because my daughter is "The Weeping Woman".  She is an amazingly patient girl and is always willing to model for my art.  Also, if you look up top at "Lida's Swan Song", you'll see a gal playing guitar.  That is the actual Lida.  My friend, Shell, was kind enough to let me scan and use this image.  Lida was Shell's great grandmother!  So...all of these pieces have extra special meaning to me.

Anyway, I do hope you like this set.  It feels right for the upcoming season.  A little dark, a little spooky, a little mysterious.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to email me.

A Little Pick-Me-Up ~

Well, it's been a long couple of weeks.  A quiet couple of weeks.  Since losing Junior, I've realized just how vocal he was.  Anytime someone knocked on the door, he would yip and yodel.  Now when someone knocks, I expect to hear Junior put up a fuss....then, nothing.  Just a knock and then silence.  I can hardly stand the silence.

I've been staying busy and trying to get back to my studio.  In the meantime, a couple of fun things have been going on.  I am the Featured Artist on Zibbet this week ~

I had fun doing the interview and I am hopeful that I can help people become aware of Zibbet.  It is so much like the early days on Etsy.

I was also asked to donate a piece of art for the "Mayor's Ball for Arts and Innovation" in Riverside, California.   It will be offered in a silent auction, which terrifies me to no end.  What if no one bids?

I wanted to create a new piece, but I just haven't had the heart to find my way back to the studio, so I am donating one of my newest pieces ~

"The Guardian of Minervia's Secrets"

I'll be framing it up this week, and off it will go to the silent auction!

Since the original "The Guardian of Minervia's Secrets" is no longer in my shop, it is now being offered in a print version

Otherwise, things have been mighty quiet around my neck of the woods.  Very hot and very quiet.

Thank you so much for all your kind emails regarding Junior.

Until Next Time

An Unexpected Loss ~

I am sad.  So so so sad.  We had to say good-bye to our sweet little Junior Bug ~

He was fine last Sunday night.  Then, Monday morning he wasn't fine anymore.  We did everything for him that we could, but he was diagnosed with acute Pancreatitis.  Before we knew it, he was too sick to save.  His little heart gave out in a matter of hours.

He was a high-spirited, sassy, loud little guy.  He brought joy and laughter to everyone who knew him.

He is the third fur-baby we've lost in less than a year and a half.  For the first time in 14 years, we have no pets.

He was my baby.  He was my friend.  He played next to me while I gardened and stood under my feet while I cooked.  He kept me company in my studio and his personality inspired my artwork.

I miss him terribly.  I don't like good-byes.  It was so unexpected.  This time last week, he was fine.  Now....he's gone.

My heart feels lonesome and I'm still trying to make sense out of the loss.  But, I am so very grateful that he was such a huge part of our life.  He made us smile and laugh everyday.

RIP Junior Bug. ♥♥
