Can a Gal Change Her Mind Twice In One Week?

Hello There:

Surprise!! (or not!), I've decided to list another original watercolor / collage that I had intended on keeping. I must stop holding onto all these originals. I create them because they make me happy, but I also create them to make other people happy as well. So, I have just listed "Delilah's New Day" ~

If you would like to learn more about this piece, you can read all the details at Gerushia's Big Cartel store.

I triple dog promise that I'll be back soon with a fun, non-marketing blog post!!

Have a fabulously sunny day:

A Gal Can Change Her Mind, Yes?

Hello There:

Just a quick pop in, first of all, to say "thank you" to all my blog / artist pals for sending such kind emails regarding my newest piece ~ "The Temporary Hat" ~

Ooopsie...the original "The Temporary Hat" has been sold.

Secondly, after a bit of consideration and several inquiring notes regarding the original "The Temporary Hat", I have decided to list it in Gerushia's Big Cartel Shop. I had originally thought I would keep the original, although I don't really know why. I tend to hoard my originals ~ silly, isn't it?

If you'd like to have a look at the details...please click HERE.

As always, I am so humbled and grateful to all the folks that take the time to stop in here and read my silly blog. It is heartfully appreciated.

A New Piece For Gerushia's New Shop.

Hello ~

So nice to see you today. I truly hope you are having a lovely, sunny day. From what I can see out my picture window, it appears to be a delicious day outdoors ~ but alas~ I haven't once tippy-toed outside yet today, as I have been at the computer, adding the finishing touches to Gerushia's new Big Cartel Shop. I believe it's finally ready to go. Would you like to have a peek? Oh....Please do! Will you click HERE? Gerushia and I would both adore it if you would have a look and leave us a comment.

Included in Gerushia's new Big Cartel shop will be a brand new print, just finished last night entitled: "The Temporary Hat" ~

(Will you have a look at Mr. Hackendasham's new hat? It's temporary, really! Of course, Mr. Hackendasham already has a fabulous hat of his own, but every now and again, we all need to wear an orange party hat, yes?).

This new watercolor / collage print will only be listed in the Big Cartel shop, and will not be included in Gerushia's Etsy inventory. I haven't listed the original yet, as I am not sure that I will let it go. I rather like it.

Oh...wouldn't it be good fun to step inside the world of "The Temporary Hat"? I just know Mr. Hackendasham and all of his New World pals would make the most fabulous friends. When I finish a piece, the first thought that comes to my mind is ~ I wonder what the world inside the canvas would smell like? To me, the world of The Temporary Hat smells of peaches and damp leaves.

Delilah's New Day.

What fun I had yesterday, playing in my studio with Delilah. She's so sweet and spotted and extra, extra large. Delilah is a Great Dane...

She belongs to my very dear and very old friend (pre-kindergarten friend) Debbie. Oh, Delilah wasn't REALLY in my studio, but I played with her photo all day long. I introduced her to a curious Rabbit, dressed her in a new orange hat and created an all around new day for her..."Delilah's New Day" ~

I just adore playing with bits and pieces of paper body parts....creating new worlds, new friends, new days. Oh, wouldn't it be lovely to walk right into a new world and make friends with the likes of Delilah in her new orange hat...to have tea with a curious Rabbit? In my dreams...I have met them all~

"Delilah's New Day" has just been listed in Gerushia's Etsy Shop. AND...for the rest of the week, this new piece will be included in the BOGO sale. Buy any print 4" x 6" or larger and get another print (your choice) for free.

Delilah and her Rabbit pal are ever so excited for you to spend the day with them...to spend a NEW day together.

Until Next Time:

Beginnings...

Good Morning:

Welcome, welcome to Gerushia’s New World. I’m so glad you’ve stopped by and I hope you have a delightful visit.

Would you like to hear Gerushia’s story? It is a true story.

Gerushia was my mom’s aunt. She was born in 1909.

She married Loyd in 1926.

She went on to have a daughter in 1927 and a son in 1933. Gerushia passed away soon after her 24th birthday from a particular epidemic, leaving behind a husband, a young daughter and a 7 month old baby boy. Approximately a year and a half later, Loyd remarried a brave and kind woman. This woman was my dad’s oldest sister, Marvie. Together, Loyd and Marvie raised Gerushia’s children and also had some of their own.

Every year, Loyd and Marvie cleaned Gerushia’s gravesite and brought flowers. They continued to do this until they were both too old to make the trip to Gerushia’s grave.

My mom told this story to me many times when I was a young girl. Of course, I never met Gerushia, and my mom was only a small child when Gerushia passed. I did, however, know Loyd and Marvie.

I chose “Gerushia’s New World” as my new business name for several reasons.

1. Gerushia is a link to both my mom and my dad’s family

2. I create "new worlds" within my watercolor/collage pieces.

3. Well, I just think the name Gerushia is abundantly awesome.

So...welcome to Gerushia’s New World. Welcome to my new world.

Until Next Time:
