Thankful For Busy Hands And A Busy Heart. Not So Thankful For The Heat ~

Is it hot in your neighborhood?

It has been hotter than fire in my neck of the woods.

We're not used to humidity in this region and we've had unusually humid evenings.

Oh, but these oven-hot temperatures and the soggy, damp air have gifted us with gorgeous, Maxfield Parrish skies ~

I am so thankful for the busy-ness that allows me to coop up in my studio.  Enjoying the comforts of my artificially cooled home. 

I am busy, busy, busy all the way through February.

But I'm not looking too far ahead.  I want to enjoy every minute.

However, I am looking forward to cooler Autumn days.

I couldn't help myself.  

I bought candy corn the first day my grocery store offered it ~ 

And, just a day or so ago, my daughter came through the door with a huge gift...

Yes, that's right.  A GIANT Jack O' Lantern Bobblehead.

No home is complete without one.

Ohhhh....and not to change the subject, but....look at these beauties!  I'm waiting for them to be delivered right to my doorstep, tomorrow ~ 

Aren't they amazing?  I am so in love with these 1950s chalkware babies.

I saw a pair hanging at Captured Tattoo when I went in for my color session. 

I knew I NEEDED some babies just like these....and I found some.

Still have one more session to go.  Next time, the color will be applied to the daffodils, red poppies and honeysuckle.

My days have been filled with art and packaging goodies to send to Germany.  I was asked to participate in a really cool show at The Dream Factory in Frankfurt, Germany.  The show is called "6 Impossible Things Before Breakfast."  

Each artist was asked to create a piece that was inspired by a passage from "Alice in Wonderland" or "Through the Looking-Glass."

Here's the passage I chose for my piece:

"This time there could be no mistake about it:  it was neither more nor less than a pig, and she felt that it would be quite absurd for her to carry it any further.  So she set the little creature down and felt quite relieved to see it trot away quietly into the wood."

...and, here's the piece I created.

"Neither More Nor Less Than A Pig"

The gallery owner asked if I could send along  "Mi Corazón por Alicia" for the show as well, so both pieces are off to Frankfurt ~

I am beyond honored to be part of this amazing show.  The artist line-up is unbelievable and I am pinching myself.  How did I get asked to be in this show?  Me?  Really?  

While I am waiting on confirmation that my art has arrived in Germany, I am keeping myself busy with a piece I'm creating for a silent auction.

The auction takes place at the annual "Mayor's Celebration" in Riverside, CA.

With so much arty goodness coming my way, I was very happy to read this fortune last night.

"Tomorrow your creative side will shine forth with exceptional ideas."

Well,  how was that for a rambling, 'round about blog post?

My posts seem to ramble just like I live.  A little of this, a little of that.  Back and forth, up and down.
