Changing Seasons and a Holiday Shop Sale ~

Did you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving?
I adore Thanksgiving.
Then....I am ready to take a long nap and wake up to find myself transported to January 2nd, refreshed and preparing for springtime.

I am not a winter-loving girl.
I am always shocked into winter reality when

Overnight....

the season changes....
from this ~

to this ~

Literally overnight.

But, I do admit, once all the decorating chores are done, I have learned to enjoy the season a little more than I did a few years ago.

Truly, I am not a scrooge.
I just NEED sunshine and longer days and a springtime garden.

I do find ways to keep busy when I can't work outside.

Of course, I love to spend the evenings in my studio...

planning and creating ~

Working on a nursery rhyme illustration for an art challenge.

I sometimes find my way into the kitchen.
Making and baking.

Honeycrisp and Granny Smith apple pie ~

The holidays allow me the chance to use my beloved china and depression glass collection.

Peeking into the china cabinet, remembering and planning holiday table settings.

A vintage Noritake tea set passed down to me by my mom ~

Vintage green goblets and pink depression glass ~

Fun and crafty projects help to keep my mind off of the short, winter days.
Dyeing bottle brush trees in vibrant Christmas colors ~

Honestly, it is probably good that the short and slow days of winter are engulfing me.

If it were gardening season, I would be so frustrated because I am down and out with a bad knee....hobbling and bobbling.

I would not be able to do heavy duty gardening work.

My knee is swollen and crazy sore ~

Like a big goose egg right in the middle of my kneecap.
I slammed it hard on our metal doggy gate on Halloween night.

Ouch!

Maybe I need this quiet time indoors to help in the healing process.

So, as I ponder the new year and re-introduce myself to the inside of my home...

the lights are twinkling ~

I have plans in the studio and even a cookie baking day.
I have plenty to keep me busy.

Including a holiday sale in my Art Shop.

If you fancy giving art for holiday gifts, now is a great time to purchase.
I am offering 40% off my entire Etsy shop with coupon code SilverBells40.
Simply use the code at checkout to automatically receive your discount.

I hope you are all enjoying the season and not falling into the chaos that sometimes attaches itself to the holidays.

Autumn Roses, Misty November Days And An Interview.

I admit it, I am not looking forward to winter.
I don't like the shorter days.
I don't like the early darkness setting in.
I am not a lover of the holiday season in general....

But ~
I do love the Autumn.
November roses show off their white glow ~

Perfect buttercream petals ~

Reaching up towards the sun on misty November days ~

Competing against the warm yellow leaves ~

Greeting visitors just at our entryway ~

An invitation to view bright Autumn chrysanthemums ~

and flaming orange pumpkins ~

These radiant yet hazy days call for a studio clean-up ~

and cozying up in my little reading nook ~

Fluffy pillows and warm light ~

Little reminders of Halloween embellish my studio hutch ~

I am happy to stay home.
Inside and outside.
And...truth be known, I rarely leave my house, other than to shop at the grocery.

But, isn't it wonderful to be connected electronically?
It opens up a whole world of goodness and opportunity, doesn't it?

I was asked to do an interview for The Palette Pages.
No need to leave my house!
So fun to answer questions about my art.
Would you like to read it?

It is isn't very long, but it gives just a peek into my history as an artist.
I would love for you to read it.
Maybe even leave a comment!  :-)

It was such fun to answer the questions.

Ohhhh....and, I am having a little shop sale through November 16th.
You can receive 30% off storewide by using coupon code AUTUMNLOVE.

You see, we have a huge leak in our foundation.
We are still trying to get caught up after our 8 month lay-off.
Now, I'm afraid we are going to have a very large plumbing bill.
The leak is under the master bathtub on one end of the house.
The water has made it's way all the way outside the dining room wall on the opposite end of the house.
It is a very bad situation.

So, every little bit helps.
Here is the link to my Etsy shop:

Maybe do a little early holiday shopping?

Is it misty and warm in your neck of the woods?
Is it cold and snowy?

I am holding on to these lovely warm Autumn days.
I am already seeing Christmas commercials on television.
I want my Thanksgiving first.
I already have my table set in anticipation!

November Rolls In With A Kaleidoscope of Color ~

Hello November!
You are always welcome.

Warm days.
A kaleidoscope of color ~

 Butterfly visits ~

A jumble of summer's leftovers ~

Pinks, yellows and purples ~

and cool whites....

reaching upward
soaking up the autumn sun ~

Unexpected gifts from the birds....

Seeds dropped from a feeder become golden sunflowers ~

Faces raised to the sky ~

November is the time to bring color indoors ~

Measuring and planning ~

A facelift for the dining room chairs ~

A garden of color for my studio chair too ~

Sleepy puppy gathering up the glow of November's warmth.
Drunk from the sun, tongue sticking out ~

Days so warm that you confuse them with summer.
Nights cool enough to offer dew in the early morning hours ~

Time spent imagining....

Daydreaming of future gardens.
Future paintings.
The future in general.

Grabbing tight to the short autumn days.
Breathing in the gleam and glow of November.

A weak and tiny vampire boy with skin that shines so pale.

The grown-ups play in masks of their own....

Dressed up like Pierrots ~
