Look Over To The Upper Right Hand Corner~

Hello There:

I won't keep you long today...I just wanted to make you aware of a new little offering on my blog.  Have a look over to the right hand side, upper corner.  Do you see where it says "Gerushia's Daily Special"?  That is a new gadget...and I'll be changing it daily.

You see...I've decided to start offering a "Daily Special" in my Art Shop.  I think it's so very important to offer affordable art in this dark and sometimes depressing economy.  Simple whimsy and color can brighten an otherwise sad day.  Receiving an affordable piece of art in the mail is something to look forward to.  Something to brighten a day even when your head is spinning from paying bills!

So...each day, I will offer a new "Daily Special", and each day that wee little gadget uptop to the right will change.  You can click on it and it will take you directly to the "Special".

Today's special is a $10.00 print of "The Haunting of La Llorona"....

I won't be posting here everyday to tell you about it, but you can always find the "Daily Special" by clicking on that little gadget in the upper right hand corner.

Sometimes the special will be a print, sometimes an original and sometimes a print set.  Who knows??

"Lida's Swan Song"

I can't tell you how good it feels to be back to my little studio.  Sometimes, life gets hectic, and it seems impossible to find the time to play with paints and photo images and all that sort of goodness.

So....first, let me say I am in LOVE with Lida.  Lida was my friend, Rochelle's, great grandmother.  Lida is the lovely Victorian era woman playing the guitar...

Rochelle was gracious in offering me the opportunity to put Lida into another world.  "Lida's Swan Song"...

In this new world...Lida's new world, she is playing her last earthly tune.  Soon to be guided onward (to a lovely place)!!  If you are interested in purchasing this new can find it in my Online Shop.

I am currently working on a second piece that will show Lida in a bolder, calmer, more focused way...

But, as you can see, I am just now only in the thoughtful stages of this new piece.  Much more work to do.  As soon as both "Lida" pieces are purchased, I will offer them together as a print set!

You want to know a funny little thing?  Just as I finished "Lida's Swan Song"...I came upon this photo...

Another lovely young lady playing guitar.  This particular lovely is my grandma Watson.  My mom's mom.  I just adore her boots!!  Thanks to my brother, Robert, for passing this image along to me.  I'm over the moon excited to use this image in a new watercolor/collage!  Hmmmm...wonder why guitar playing women keep popping into my life?  Curious for sure!

Also...please know ~ I do commission pieces as well.  If you are interested in having your own family photo images inserted into a new world...please email me with any questions at:  gerushiasworld at AOL dot com.

Thank you so much for stopping by and having a look.

...And The Winner Is ~

Good Morning:

As usual...there were a lot of people that weren't able to leave comments for the give-away on my blog....but, there were a ton of comments through email and 1 through my facebook page.  There were 123 comments all together.  I attached a number to each person and sent those numbers through a randomizer.  Hah!  Of all the give-aways I've had through the years...I don't think this has ever happened...the winning number is #1.

The winner is Deni!  She was the first person to leave a comment here and her comment came in before the first person that left a comment through email.

I will contact Deni and let her know.

With that...I will leave you with a little sneak peek of what I'm working on right now.  This is just a thumbnail, not the whole piece.

It's very early in the process, no paint, no tint, etc. but, the composition is complete.  This is for all of you musicians!  I'll post a photo of the completed piece as soon as it's listed in my SHOP.

Give When You're Down ~, life has thrown some curve balls my way lately.  Actually, my life has been hit by an almost constant flow of curve balls since the beginning of 2008.  So many struggles and disappointments and really super scary stuff. I am. Still clinging and clawing and chugging along trying to make the best of my Everydays.

Truly, I have found that when times are hard and I'm struggling,  one of the best pick-me-ups is to give.  There are so many things my family and I have lost...and in that knowledge comes a desire to give to others.  Because really, little unexpected gifts can make a bad day can throw a bit of sunshine on an otherwise dark time. the middle of my darkness, I'm having a giveaway.

This particular art giveaway is for a framed original.  It is a framed ACEO.  For those of you who might not be familiar with ACEOs.... (The acronym "ACEO" stands for Art Cards, Editions and Originals. They can be original art, print editions or photographs. ACEOs are miniature pieces of art that measure 2-1/2" x 3-1/2", the same size as a standard trading card).  The frame measures 7" x 9" and is wired for hanging.   This piece was in my "Connecting Spaces" show last Autumn.

This ACEO is entitled "The Reader".  It is a watercolor/collage...but I created it using Cabernet Sauvignon instead of water.  The dark red wine brings a nice depth to the watercolor.

Here's what you do if you'd like to participate.  Simply leave a comment.  Now, I know that sounds simple, BUT, I've been having major issues with my readers being able to leave comments.  Seems there's a problem with blogger...and it's been going on for almost 2 years!  So, if you are unable to leave a comment on my blog, please, email the comment to gerushiasworld at AOL dot com.  I will then add you into the hat along with everyone else!  The winner will be chosen at random.

The contest will run through Sunday night, March 11th, at 8:00 pm pacific time.  I will announce the winner on Monday, March 12th.

I do hope you'll join the fun.  It's not often that I have a giveaway for an original piece.  Hmmmm....actually, I'm not sure that I have ever had a giveaway for an original.

Until Monday:
