Autumn Roses, Misty November Days And An Interview.

I admit it, I am not looking forward to winter.
I don't like the shorter days.
I don't like the early darkness setting in.
I am not a lover of the holiday season in general....

But ~
I do love the Autumn.
November roses show off their white glow ~

Perfect buttercream petals ~

Reaching up towards the sun on misty November days ~

Competing against the warm yellow leaves ~

Greeting visitors just at our entryway ~

An invitation to view bright Autumn chrysanthemums ~

and flaming orange pumpkins ~

These radiant yet hazy days call for a studio clean-up ~

and cozying up in my little reading nook ~

Fluffy pillows and warm light ~

Little reminders of Halloween embellish my studio hutch ~

I am happy to stay home.
Inside and outside.
And...truth be known, I rarely leave my house, other than to shop at the grocery.

But, isn't it wonderful to be connected electronically?
It opens up a whole world of goodness and opportunity, doesn't it?

I was asked to do an interview for The Palette Pages.
No need to leave my house!
So fun to answer questions about my art.
Would you like to read it?

It is isn't very long, but it gives just a peek into my history as an artist.
I would love for you to read it.
Maybe even leave a comment!  :-)

It was such fun to answer the questions.

Ohhhh....and, I am having a little shop sale through November 16th.
You can receive 30% off storewide by using coupon code AUTUMNLOVE.

You see, we have a huge leak in our foundation.
We are still trying to get caught up after our 8 month lay-off.
Now, I'm afraid we are going to have a very large plumbing bill.
The leak is under the master bathtub on one end of the house.
The water has made it's way all the way outside the dining room wall on the opposite end of the house.
It is a very bad situation.

So, every little bit helps.
Here is the link to my Etsy shop:

Maybe do a little early holiday shopping?

Is it misty and warm in your neck of the woods?
Is it cold and snowy?

I am holding on to these lovely warm Autumn days.
I am already seeing Christmas commercials on television.
I want my Thanksgiving first.
I already have my table set in anticipation!

January Days and "The Window Watchers" ~

There's no better blue than the blue of a January sky ~

Chilly winds whip through the palm trees ~

Sometimes, January skies are dark with a whisper of Johnny Appleseed in the distance ~

I don't know why my mind has drifted to the sky today.  Maybe because January is slow and allows me to see....really see the Everyday things that sometimes go unnoticed.

Winter's garden can often go unnoticed.

Simple leaves and vines that hold the secret of summer's berries ~

Long days in the studio, uninterrupted ~

Listening to music ~

Inspired by old times, Victorian fashion and sepia tone photos from my own collection ~

This particular photo has been calling me to use it for several years.
I wanted to be sure the time was right~

I can't describe the feeling I get when I'm happy with my art.
When all the paint, pencil and cut-outs fit just perfectly ~

"The Window Watchers" (SOLD)

This piece has been a work in progress for quite some time.  The painting has been done for several months.  The image layering was intense and I think the most difficult piece, logistically, that I've ever created.

January days.
Slow.
Breezy.

Perfect for sky watching
Listening for garden secrets
and
long days in the studio.

Are you enjoying your January days?

My Transient Studio

The house is quiet, all but for the sound of my own fingers, clickety-clack, on this keyboard. I've finished my last cup of coffee and I'm on my way to my "transient studio". Won't take long to get there...stand up, turn left and walk 5 paces. There it is, slap on my dining room table!

I'm working on three custom pieces and am anxious to get them finished. Until recently, all of my supplies were packed away in a lime green storage box, waiting to find their place in my studio.

But alas ~ my studio/office isn't finished and the custom pieces are beckoning. So, the dining room table will be my headquarters for another few weeks.

My own little studio is almost finished, baseboards are on and the flooring is done. Gary is working on a custom desk for me, and until that project is finished, my art supplies are portable.

I adore my own little nook. The window looks out on the Plum Tree...

and I can smell Sweet Peas when they're in season...

The only thing in my space at the moment is an old wicker rocking chair. The same chair that I rocked my daughter to sleep in.

I like to sneak away into my comfy little nook, take a seat in my familiar rocker, and dream of the day when the room will finally be finished.

Until Next Time:
